World's
Finest
2013.06.18
The
World's Finest comic is getting to be a decent book (Power Girl is back
in her regular outfit, a step in the right direction) and getting back
from HeroesCon and meeting Marcus To had me in a Huntress kinda mood.
So it's fan art time! :D
This is a
piece that reminds me why taking my time with something really pays
off. Usually when I draw something I don't stop until it's done.
When that happens I don't take the time to smell the roses, and
them mistakes are made (like stupid proportions or goofy eyes, etc).
This was one of those pieces I knew I did not want to screw up so
I made myself put it down after an hour's worth of work. It took
me over a week to finish it, but I think it was a good trade off.
It let me take a step back and see the whole picture and tweak
things with fresh eyes instead of plowing through this in the wee hours
of the morning.
Originally the idea was to have them side-by-side on the same plane but
Power Girl ended up in front. But I'm okay with that since she's
got that bright primary color scheme and her pose is more dynamic.
I did some bright backlighting on both of them to make their
figures pop and differentiate from each other. I'm really, REALLY
happy with how Huntress turned out. I drew a lot of seams and
details on her suit which I knew would come back to bite me in the ass
in the coloring stage since she's in that dreaded black outfit but it
turned out pretty alright. :O
And their capes. Why don't I draw capes more...?
