A long-in-the-works Megatronica redesign!
I've never really been completely happy with my first go at
Prima's nemesis. My original design was heavily based on Azula
from Avatar: The Last Airbender, most obvious being her hair and expression. At the time I
was drawing a lot of her and Suki because I was watching the show with
a bunch of friends, though I really didn't enjoy it as much as they
did. Because of that, Megatronica being so heavily
influenced on Azula has bugged me ever since.
I knew I wanted a bob-style hairdo since it kinda mimics Megatron's
helmet. I also gave her shoulder armors to not only imitate
Megatron but to also callback to Prima's silhouette. A lot of
Megatronica's original elements stuck around because hey, if it ain't
broke don't fix it.
The back view was added much later, because as much as I like her
shorter hairstyle I missed drawing her crazy ponytail. So I took
inspiration from something I actually like, in this case Mahoromatic,
and gave her a really long ponytail. I took the opportunity to
throw in a design easter egg, that being Megatron's alt mode barrel as
Megatronica's hair tie.
